Updated Professional Social Worker Fees Published

Regulations regarding the updated fees payable by social workers, student social workers and social auxiliary workers have been published in terms of the Social Services Professions Act (1978).

The updated fees have been determined following recommendations by the South African Council for Social Service Professions.

The fees payable to the council include the following:
•    Registration fees for applicants with South African qualifications - R210.
•    Registration fees for applicants who obtained their qualifications at a training institution in a listed country that includes amongst others: Australia, most European countries, United Arab Emirates and United States of America - R3050.
•    For applicants from other countries - R1550.
•    Annual fees – R400.

Other fees in the regulations refer to the following: student registration, registration of a speciality, continuing professional development and fees for registration as an auxiliary social worker or learner.

The regulations come into effect from the date of publication in notice 675 in Gazette 36827 on 13 September 2013.
