Government has earmarked satellite production as an area for human capital development and to increase international investment.

Science and technology minister Naledi Pandor said at a World Space Week meeting in Mthatha satellite manufacture was a high-technology, high-skills niche in which the country could grow.

Partnerships Sought for Bioinformatics Service Platform

The science and technology department is looking for outside support for its bioinformatics service platform (BSP).

In a statement published on the department’s website, it is calling for nominations for the education and training as well as the services and support sub-committees of its new BSP.

CSIR Publishes Proposed Language Policy

Council for Scientific and Industrial Research

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) proposes it adopts English, isiZulu and Sepedi as its official languages.

The draft language policy has been published in the Government Gazette (38093 / 119 of 10 October 2014) for public comment.
