Hairdressing Bargaining Council Extends Collective Agreement

The National Bargaining Council for the Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty and Skincare Industry’s collective agreement has been extended to non-parties.

The labour department announced the extension in Government Gazette 41187.

The extension was made in terms of the Labour Relations Act.

It applies from the second Monday after publication of the notice until 31 December 2018.

Meanwhile, in Notice 1121, the department cancelled Notice 1462 published in December 2016. The notice had extended the period of operation of the main agreement.

The cancellation applies from the second Monday after publication of the notice.

The department, during a recent briefing in parliament on its 2017/18 quarter 1 performance, confirmed that the drafting of the Draft Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Bill and the Draft National Minimum Wage Bill had been completed.
