SALRC Releases Discussion Paper on Family Law

The South African Law Reform Commission (SALRC) has released a discussion paper on the review of legislation dealing with family law and marriage for public comment.
Written comment on the paper is invited until 30 April 2012.
Immigration Amendment Act and Refugees Amendment Act Signed into Law

State president Jacob Zuma has signed Immigration Amendment Act 13 of 2011 and Refugees Amendment Act 12 of 2011 into law.
The Immigration Amendment Act will come into operation on a date yet to be determined by the president.
Home Affairs Clarifies Status of Amendments to Key Legislation

The department of home affairs has clarified the status of amendments to the Births and Deaths Registration Act and the Immigration Act.
Amendments to Births and Deaths Registration Act 51 of 1992 were assented into law on 9 December 2010 but have yet to be allocated an implementation date.
