Rules Relating to Good Pharmacy Practice to be Tweaked

Department of Health

The South African Pharmacy Council has published its intention, in Notice 591 in Government Gazette 41043, to add minimum standards to Annexure A of the Rules Relating to Good Pharmacy Practice.

The proposed minimum standard specifically relates to the approval of facilities (other than primary healthcare clinics) where a pharmacist’s assistant (post-basic) may practice under indirect supervision – pharmacy linked distribution points.

Those interested in submitting written comments should do so within 60 days from the publication of the notice.

Meanwhile, the Council has also invited interested parties to comment on its intention to publish the 2017 Competency Standards for Pharmacists in South Africa.

According to Notice 590, comments on the draft standards must reach the Council within 60 days of publication of the notice.

The full content of the notice is available on the Council’s website.
