Education Department Implements Agreement With China

The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, has visited Beijing in China this week to pursue an implementation plan between the education ministries of the two countries.

This follows the signing of a collaboration agreement between the two countries in March last year when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited South Africa.

Tax Convention Ratified

South African Revenue Service

Parliament has ratified the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters.

The convention, amended by a protocol in June 2011, regulates the exchange of tax information between member states.

Updated Refugee Appeal Board Rules Commence

The Refugee Appeal Board Rules (2013) which deal with requirements and procedures for lodging appeals with the board have been published in terms of the Refugees Act (1998).

In terms of the rules an appeal must be lodged by an asylum seeker within 30 days of receipt of a letter of rejection from the refugee status determination officer.
