Registration Authority for Environmental Assessment Practitioners in Place

The Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa has been appointed as the single registration authority.

The department of environmental affairs announced the appointment in Notice 104 in Government Gazette 41434.

The Association is appointed in terms of the National Environmental Management Act and will serve as the single registration authority for environmental assessment practitioners. The appointment is valid for a period of five years from the date of publication of the notice.

Fees for application, registration and renewal, for the lodging of appeals and annual fees for registered environmental assessment practitioners as well as the candidates, are currently under consideration and will be published in the Gazette once they have been approved.

The requirement to register as a practitioner takes effect 24 months from the date of appointment of the first registration authority.
