Gardening Sector Wages Under Scrutiny

The department of labour extends its investigation into a minimum wage in the gardening and landscaping sector with hearings starting tomorrow, 3 September.

In April this year interested parties were invited to submit written submissions.

Tourism BBBEE Code Under Construction

Department of Tourism

The tourism department has invited stakeholders to participate in the alignment of the Tourism Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Codes to the amended Generic Codes of Good Practice.

The invitation, published in Government Gazette 37956, is based on the need for all sector charter councils to align their sector-specific codes to the new B-BBEE Generic Codes of Good Practice.

ICT White Paper on Track

Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services

Telecommunications and postal services minister Siyabonga Cwele says the policy or white paper on Integrated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) should be ready by March next year.

The minister told the Telecommunication Networks and Application Conference (SATNAC) in Port Elizabeth government fast tracked the ICT policy review process to modernise the laws and regulations and to “most importantly, create certainty to investors in the sector”.
