New Appointments to BBBEE Council

The Presidency

A new presidential advisory council on broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) has been set up.

The council is tasked with advising government on BBBEE and reviewing its implementation.

Protocol on Fishing Safety Heading to Parliament

Cabinet

Parliament will be asked to approve international safety standards for seagoing fishing vessels.

Cabinet decided at its meeting earlier this week that provisions of the Torremolinos Protocol, which lays down standards such as life-saving appliances, radio communication and fire protection, must be sent to parliament for ratification.

Agrément South Africa Bill Gets Green Light

Cabinet has given the green light to proposed legislation designed to tighten up how Agrément South Africa is managed.

The Draft Agrément South Africa Bill was first published for comment at the beginning of 2014.
