Private Security Industry Regulator Adjusts Fees

Department of Police

Annual fees that private security firms pay to the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority have been adjusted.

The proposed fees for 2016 were published for comment in February.

Some of the revised fees include R35 000 for large entities with more than 5000 security officers employed, R25 000 for medium sized firms employing between 501 and 5000 personnel and R8 500 for small firms employing less than 100.

All firms, irrespective of size, are expected to pay R2.30 per officer on a monthly basis.

Security officers other than car guards must pay R84 per annum.

The adjusted fees, published in Government Gazette 39966, came into effect on 25 April 2016.
