Code of Conduct for Private Security Firms Amended

Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority

A security service provider found guilty of improper conduct is liable for a fine not exceeding R1 million.

This provision is contained in amendments to the private security industry’s Code of Conduct published in Government Gazette 40116.

Training Standards for Private Security Industry in the Pipeline

Draft regulations setting out the functions of the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority have been published in Government Gazette 40091 for comment.

The draft regulations and minimum training standards for the private security industry were drawn up in terms of the Private Security Industry Regulation Act.

SAPS to Destroy Voluntarily Surrendered Firearms

South African Police Service

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has announced that all voluntarily surrendered or forfeited firearms currently in its possession will be destroyed.

The announcement was published in Government Gazette 40073 in terms of the Firearms Control Act.
