Broadcasting Act Amendment Under Consideration

The communications department is to consult with the national assembly’s communications committee to discuss a proposed review and amendment of the Broadcasting Act.
The communications minister, Dina Pule, mentioned this during her budget vote speech in parliament this week.

The Department of Communications has invited nominations for non-executive directors to the board of the .za domain name authority.
The board is responsible for the domain name space in terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (2002).
ICASA Launches Disability Consultative Forum
Independent Communications Authority of South Africa
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has launched the Disability Consultative Forum which will act as an advisory body on disability issues and make recommendations for inclusion in the ICT regulatory agenda.
Disability Consultative Forum draws participation from industry stakeholders including the broadcasting, postal sectors and disability sectors, and also from electronic communications services licensees.
