The Electronic Communications Amendment Act (2014) has been signed by President Jacob Zuma and published in the Government Gazette this week.
Provisions in the act which amends the 2005 act were required in line with technology advances and the liberalisation process of the electronic communications sector.

Increased classification and registration tariffs for the Film and Publication Board have been published for the 2014-2015 period.
These fees which take effect from 7 April 2014 refer to the registration of internet service providers as well as distributors and exhibitors of films, computer games or internet and mobile phone content.
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa Amendment Act was signed by President Jacob Zuma on 3 April 2014 and published in the Government Gazette this week.
The purpose of the act is to clarify the powers and duties of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).
