DAFF Announces Total Allowable Catch for Rock Lobster

The Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for the 2017/18 fishing season for West Coast Rock Lobster (WCRL) has been announced.

In a statement, the agriculture, forestry and fisheries department confirmed that the TAC was unchanged at 1924.08 tons.

According to the department, the recreational sector has been granted nine days to fish.

The recreational fishing dates will soon be published in the Government Gazette.

A Comprehensive Fishery Management Plan for the lobster fishery is also under construction.

Meanwhile, the South African Veterinary Council has called for nominations of a candidate to serve on the council.

The successful candidate will serve until 31 July 2019.

Nominations are invited until 8 December 2017.
