Anti-Dumping Duties on Frozen Chicken Imposed

Temporary anti-dumping duties against the import of frozen chicken pieces from Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom have been imposed.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) published detail on the anti-dumping duty in Government Gazette 37801.

Ocean and Coastal Management Documents Issued

The White Paper on National Management of the Ocean (NEMO) and the Draft National Coastal Management Programme (NCMP) were published last week by the Department of Environmental Affairs.

Public comment on the NCMP is invited by the department in terms of the National Environmental Management: Integrated Coastal Management Act (ICM) (2008).

Citrus Black Spot Measures Under Review

The European Commission's (EC) recent decision to control the importation of South African citrus fruit in order to prevent citrus black spot (CBS) from spreading to Europe has meant the proposed introduction of additional stringent and costly measures.

In a statement issued on Friday the Department of Agriculture stated that despite their belief that South African commercial fruit does not pose a threat to the European Union (EU) they remain committed to ensuring compliance with necessary measures and to maintaining open channels of communication with EU authorities.
