The inaugural South Africa Investment Conference is scheduled for 25-27 October 2018.

According to an economic development department statement, the theme of the Conference is ‘Accelerating Growth by Building Partnerships’.

Parliament Briefed on African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement

The trade and industry department has called for South Africa to be one of 22 countries to sign the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AFCFTA).

The department was briefing parliament on the AFCFTA signed by South Africa on 1 July 2018.

An interim report of the Commission of Inquiry into the South African Revenue Service has been drawn up.

In a statement, the presidency announced that the interim report has been handed to president Ramaphosa for his consideration.

Electoral Laws Amendment Bill Tabled

A bill designed to enhance the existing legislative mechanisms that ensure free and fair elections has been tabled in parliament.

The Electoral Laws Amendment Bill aims to introduce amendments to the Electoral Commission Act, Electoral Act and the Local Government: Municipal Electoral Act.
