President Ramaphosa Unveils Economic Stimulus Plan

The economic stimulus and recovery plan announced by president Ramaphosa in Pretoria today will focus on the reprioritization of spending on activities that will have the greatest impact on economic growth, domestic demand and job creation.

The economic stimulus plan was adopted by cabinet this week.

A Biorefinery Research Consortium has been set up.

According to a science and technology department statement, the consortium is designed to create new value chains from waste biomass.

Advisory Panel on Land Reform Set Up

The Presidency

An advisory panel on land reform has been set up to support the inter-ministerial committee (IMC) on land reform.

In a statement, the presidency indicated that the panel will “advise the IMC on a broad range of policy matters associated with land reform, including restitution, redistribution, tenure security and agricultural support”.

Comment was invited on the draft bill at the end of last year.
